2016 Safe Patient Handling & Mobility Conference

It was great to join the team from the Tampa VA and "the usual suspects" at the 2016 Safe Patient Handling and Mobility Conference in Glendale, Arizona.

This year, I had the privilege of prevention with Bob Williamson of Ascension Health on the combined mobility and falls prevention program we worked on for Ascension. The idea is that all the same methods and equipment used to help caregivers safely mobilize patients stabilizes and supports patients to prevent falls at the same time. Bob reported on the outstanding results they've achieved at Ascension, as well as what we went through to create and implement the program.

As an added bonus, I got to present my three minutes of the best I could come up with at the "Einstein Panel" at the conference. Believe me: the Einstein part was aspirational, not descriptive! Here I am at the podium for my presentation.

Lastly, it was great to catch up with all the friends and colleagues in the safe patient handling and mobilization field I've worked with over the years. Below are two of my favorite folks: Val Kelleher of the VA and Charlotte Lynch, just retired from the VA and now president of the Association of Safe Patient Handling Professionals.
